Frequently Asked Questions

How long are sessions?

Typically, sessions last 50-55 minutes in length.

How much does counseling cost?

My private pay rate is $160 per 50-55 minute session.

If you have insurance and wish to use it, your rate will vary depending on your insurance benefits. Prior to the first session it is recommended that you contact your insurance company to find out what your benefits are. I attempt to do this, but it is not a guarantee that it is correct.

What can I expect in the first counseling session?

Typically we take the first session to go over any paperwork that has not been completed and get a detailed history. We will talk about what therapy will look like for you and talk about confidentiality, financial information, and scheduling. We will make a plan of action and get you set up for any further appointments, if you choose.

How often do I need to come in?

It is recommended that you come in for counseling on a weekly basis. However, there are circumstances where that is not possible. Just communicate that with me so that I can work with you. Communication is always the key to helping you effectively. After you have reached your goals, or when you are close, we may decrease the frequency to test how you do with that. This is something that I will discuss with you and you are part of that decision.

How long does the counseling process take?

Counseling is very individualized and the length needed to work through everything can vary from person to person. There is no time table, no should’s or should not’s, and there is no right or wrong. You do you, that’s it.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you have to cancel or reschedule your appointment, I will need 24 hours advance notice. This allows me to fill the spot with someone else who is waiting. If you do not call within 24 hours before your appointment or you just do not show up, you will be charged a $90 no show/late cancellation fee.

Do you prescribe medication?

I do not prescribe medication, but I can help you get connected with prescribers in the area. I find it helpful to collaborate with your prescriber so that we are all on the same page, but I only do this with your permission.

How can I make an appointment?

That’s easy! Just give me a call or send me an email!
